This program consists of eight three-hour group sessions (see calendar for dates and times), and is designed for individuals interested in establishing a committed partnership, and for couples wanting to improve communication skills, creating safety and passion in their relationships.

The goal of Imago therapy for couples is to see the relationship as a source for reparative experiences, with each person providing the blueprint for the other’s growth and healing.  For the individual, the group will provide the support needed for personal growth and healing, preparing him or her for a committed partnership.

Whether in a traditional relationship or not, it is important to acknowledge the other person’s reality and validate their experience.  With such openness and empathy, both giving and receiving, you will begin to experience the safety needed to dismantle the defensive cage you built in childhood, protecting you from the pain of contact then, that is blocking you from the joy of contact now.

The Cage
Our Childhood Defenses

We will provide the keys to dismantle your cage so you may re-establish contact with others and in doing so, reconnect with your inner self, releasing the energy and potential locked inside.

Over the course of eight weeks, you will engage in the process to help you develop healthier relationships and regain your wholeness and aliveness.  This work includes:

  • Saying goodbye to past partners to resolve grief that often interferes with openness to new relationships.
  • Changing repetitive patterns that prevents connecting with others.
  • Identifying emotional wounding from childhood.
  • Identifying protective behaviors you developed to cope with the emotional wounding.
  • Understanding the origins of self-rejection, and how it functions in character development and partner selection.

Groups are small and space is limited. Register early.

It is important that when you make the commitment to join the group, you attend every meeting.  Each week builds on the previous week, thus flow and continuity are important factors for both the individual as well as the group as a whole.

Cost

Group work is cost effective.  We charge each participant $60 per session.  Weekly sessions are 3 hours long and payment is due on the day of the meeting.  You may pay in full at the beginning of the first session if you would prefer.
