Individual Therapy
Imago psychotherapy is a process of helping individuals understand what’s getting in the way of living the life they want. There are often forces out of one’s awareness that need to be uncovered and psychotherapy provides a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore these issues. People often want to know how long therapy takes and how often they should come. There is no set answer as it depends on many factors. Typically, therapy sessions are scheduled once a week and we generally ask that you make a 6-month commitment. Yet again, the amount of time spent in therapy depends largely on why you are coming. Some may need only a few sessions, while others need and want to explore deeper issues which takes longer. Feel free to ask questions and discuss this in your first session.
Couples' Therapy
Imago Relationship Therapy was developed by Harville Hendrix, Ph.D and his wife Helen LaKelly Hunt, Ph.D. It is a unique approach to helping couples develop a conscious relationship. We think that couples’ therapy should be more than just a place to vent your frustrations about each other. We provide a safe, structured format to learn specific skills. We want to give you tools that you can begin to put into practice the minute you step outside our office. Many couples say that learning these skills gave them the first glimmer of hope in their ability to create a better relationship.
Group Therapy
Imago Group Therapy is designed for individuals interested in establishing a committed partnership, and for couples wanting to improve communication skills, creating safety and passion in their relationship. The goal of Imago therapy for couples is to see the relationship as a source for reparative experiences, with each person providing the blueprint for the other’s growth and healing. For the individual, the group will provide the support needed for personal growth and healing, preparing him or her for a committed partnership
